Rep. Patsy Keever (NC-115) was awarded the highest score possible on Environment North Carolina’s 2011 Legislative Scorecard.

Keever, Democratic candidate for the U.S. House in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District, received a score of 100% on Environment North Carolina’s 2011 Legislative Scorecard. “I guess I’ve been ‘green’ all my life,” says Keever. “Clean air and water for the people of this state and for the generations to come have always been very important to me.”

Throughout her career Patsy Keever has consistently voted to protect natural resources and the quality of life in North Carolina. As a Buncombe County commissioner, she voted to protect property values and natural resources through reasonable zoning. She led the push to begin recycling in Buncombe County, including in the public schools, when she was a teacher. In the North Carolina House, Patsy led the way with her votes for clean air and water, endeavoring to maintain our state’s reputation as one of the best places to live and work in the nation.

The Legislative Scorecard gives each state legislator a score of 0 to 100 based on his or her votes on key environmental bills in the recent session of the General Assembly. In a message to Keever announcing her score, Environment North Carolina said:

2011 was a tough year for North Carolina’s environment in the General Assembly, but thanks to you, there was a voice for the environment and the quality of life in the Tar Heel state.

Keever’s score of 100% is further evidence of one of the strongest environmental voting records among all legislators during the 2011 Legislative Long Session. Earlier this month Keever received a score of 92 for 2011 on the NC League of Conservation Voters Conservation Scorecard.
