FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Asheville, NC—Today State Representative Patsy Keever formally announced her candidacy for the U.S. House in North Carolina’s newly drawn 10th Congressional District. Surrounded by family and friends, Rep. Keever talked about why she is running:
I’m running to be a voice for the people in Congress, for there are many who don’t believe they have one right now. I have put people first throughout my career as a public servant, and as the representative of the tenth district, I will continue to do so.
In her remarks, Keever also spoke of her commitment to public service:
As a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, Buncombe County Commissioner and North Carolina State Representative, I have always sought to put people first. I have fought to create greater opportunities for meaningful employment. I have endeavored to keep our children in school and ensure that they get an education that empowers them to prosper. I have taken a stand for the beauty of our state and the quality of our air and water. I have done my best to create a community that serves all of its citizens.
Rep. Patsy Keever (NC-115) is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District. Keever taught in the public schools for more than 25 years and served on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners for 12 years. In 2004, she ran a spirited, grassroots campaign for Congress.
